After a month of Ramadan and vacation to India, I landed on Muscat a day of Eid and I knew that now it was time for some fun as the whole city was in a festive and celebratory mood. So, after lots of working out through lots of plans, a sudden plan came up and we were off to a resort in Oman Dive Centre in Qantab.
As it was Eid, getting a cab to go all the way to Qantab was hard but we finally did and we headed off to Oman Dive Centre where we had made a reservation for our rooms prior and we checked in around 11pm at night. A triple room cost us 65 OMR so we booked 2 rooms for six of us and headed towards the room. I had no idea about Oman Dive Centre (ODC) and wasn't aware of the room and facilities they provided. To my surprise, the resort didn't have rooms as such but Barsati huts which had a bedroom and a bathroom which is directly on its sandy beach. The bedroom was massive, with a huge double bed and an extra single bed, with traditionally designed walls and windows and the best of it was the spacious bathroom, which was made in a very traditional way like in a hut but had everything a modern bathroom needs. The room had everything a perfect room needs, a comfortable bed, an amazing bathroom, a mini-bar with comparatively lower priced drinks than any hotels or bars in Muscat, huge wardrobes and furniture. There was a sofa just outside the room to chill and relax and then was this beautiful private beach just outside the villa.
Staying in the ODC resort actually makes one feel like one has his own private beach and yes, I did feel that and I guess that was the best part for a beach lover like me. ODC has a fully licensed Odyssey Restaurant which offers ethnic and international cuisine and beach barbeques. The other morning when I woke up, we headed directly to the restaurant for our complimentary breakfast, which was a lavish buffet breakfast, with fresh and delicious breads, juices, fruits, chocolates and drinks. It was so amazing that in the morning I actually called up few friends to join us and ODC provides facilities to outsiders who are not staying in the resort too with 5 OMR for entry.
If you're an adventure lover, ODC actually can engage you in lots of water sports including snorkeling, diving, dive courses, dolphin watching and kayak rental. The beach there is completely different from the other beaches in Muscat and it just feels like paradise there. As the morning began, the places started getting busier with people, especially people who were looking for adventurer and some just to relax. Oman Dive Centre has a wonderful Arabic style beach tent, the perfect place to relax, to enjoy the view and serenity of the private bay, to refreshes oneself with a fresh prepared fruit punch or probably a glass of chilled beer while watching your favorite sporting event. ODC also has a swimming pool if you love taking a dip in the pool to refresh yourself.
Going for a trip for diving or dolphin watching is a great idea, with the amazing boats and professional guides they have which gives you one of the best experiences in Muscat, and escape yourself from all the stress of life to an entirely different world. So, from my point of view, ODC should definitely be in your must-visit place list if you're visiting Muscat or living here.
